about
Nicole Delesalle was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Canada. The daughter of an architect and painter, Delesalle was exposed to the arts from an early age and has always practiced and pursued the arts in various mediums. After studying Fine Arts and Philosophy at the University of British Columbia, Delesalle honed her craft after gaining new ways of thinking from her studies of the expressionist and cubist abstract movements. She attributes her early draw to the abstract expressionist world through studies of artists including Willem de Kooning, Robert Motherwell, Jackson Pollock, Pablo Picasso and Edvard Munch among others. Delesalle creates works which portray the underlying messages of the subconscious mind, free from influences and conformity, akin to that which can only be found in the most native state of the mind's eye.
Always having a passion for creative endeavors, Delesalle completed a successful 12 year career in Real Estate Marketing Management with one of Western Canada’s top Real Estate Development firms; Polygon Homes Ltd. While there, she completed UBC’s Graduate Program in Urban Land Economics.
A fall into love changed Delesalle’s life path and brought her to a new home in Santa Barbara, where she currently resides and works from her studio located in the Helena Mason Art Gallery at 48 Helena Avenue in the Funk Zone. Now, happily raising two young boys, Delesalle is finally able to purse a painting career as her primary profession and ultimate passion project.
